Edward Cardington Headshot

Edward is one of the founding partners of Milberg London and a member of the senior management team. Edward is the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).

Edward has over 10 years’ experience of resolving complex, high value commercial disputes for clients. Career highlights include acting for Richard Lloyd in his ground-breaking data breach group action against Google and acting for Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in its successful action against Mastercard in relation to unlawful credit card charges.

In common with the rest of the Milberg London senior team, Edward spent almost a decade in Mishcon de Reya’s market leading litigation practice, with a particular specialism in civil fraud litigation and injunctive relief. Prior to that he trained in the London office of the global law firm Jones Day. This has given him deep experience of acting not only for claimants but also for the corporate defendants Milberg London typically pursues. Former clients include major European banks, FTSE-100 listed retailers and international players in a range of sectors including manufacturing and natural resource extraction. Understanding the mindset and tactics of large corporate defendants is a key advantage in litigating against them.

Prior to entering the law, Edward worked as a research scientist and has a particular specialty in litigation with detailed scientific, technical or quantitative evidence. He has an active interest in emerging technologies, such as natural language processing and other forms of artificial intelligence, and how these can be applied to the practice of law. He holds a PhD in environmental chemistry from the University of Cambridge and a first-class master’s degree in earth sciences from the University of Oxford.

Edward is mentioned in the Legal500’s 2022 Firms to Watch category for Commercial Litigation: Premium.

Ed is ranked as Up and Coming by Chambers in its 2024 guide for Group Litigation: Claimant.
