James Taylor is an Associate Partner at Milberg London LLP. James is a commercial and financial litigator who specialises in claims against large institutional defendants, including banks. He trained at global law firm, Dechert LLP, before spending more than 5 years in Mishcon de Reya LLP’s well-regarded finance and banking litigation practice. This was followed by 18 months at RPC advising on one of the largest commercial fraud claims in England, which is set for trial in 2022. He joined Milberg London in January 2021.
James’ work involves advising clients on complex, high value commercial disputes and includes two cases featured in the top 20 cases of 2016 in leading industry magazine “The Lawyer”: these were Guy Hands’ £2 billion claim against Citigroup and the reported judicial review by Holmcroft Properties Ltd against KPMG LLP. His other noted work includes acting for Richard Lloyd in his ground-breaking data breach representative group action against Google and the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s $1 billion fraud claim against JPMorgan. James is therefore well experienced in advising on the large, multijurisdictional claims that Milberg London pursues on behalf of its clients.
James has a History degree from University College London (specialising in Central and Eastern Europe) and Distinctions in his post-graduate legal studies from the College of Law and BPP Law School. He qualified as a solicitor in 2014.
