Rob is an experienced arbitration and civil litigation lawyer who specialises in complex commercial disputes, antitrust and competition law.

In London, Rob has developed his arbitration and disputes expertise, working at US law firm Baker Botts from 2020 to 2022.

Rob is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), the Law Society Competition Section, The Collective Redress Lawyers Association (CORLA) and the Society English and American Lawyers (SEAL). Rob joined Lincoln’s Inn this year as a Transferring Lawyer and is presently completing the qualifying sessions to be called to the Bar of England and Wales.

Rob began his career in New Zealand where, after starting as a judicial clerk, he practised at Band 1 ranked legal boutique LeeSalmonLong. He worked with senior members of the bar, appearing as sole and junior counsel in court and arbitrations. His practice highlights include appearing successfully against a KC to successfully oppose an arbitral award challenge ([2018] 2 NZLR 808 (reported)) and acting in relation to the landmark trial arising from the collapse of historic construction company Mainzeal.

Rob came to the UK via an LLM at Columbia University in New York, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar. He specialised in international arbitration, antitrust and competition, dispute resolution and media law. In his time at Columbia, Rob had the chance to take the flagship US Antitrust course taught by Professor Tim Wu (hailed as the architect of Biden Administration’s competition and antitrust policies).

Rob enjoys film, music, arts and culture, functional fitness and the outdoors. He is an advanced non-native speaker of German (CEFR C1.2). He is (slowly) working on basic Spanish and coding.
